The October challenge, find amazing parts of theology and

then each day bring one paragraph to you the reader about that.

Does a person under God own anything? Can we, God’s creation,

own any part of the created? Now while your shaking your

head at the idea of that even being a theological concept,

stop, for just a second and realize, it most assuredly is. You

see, you aren’t just a created being, inbreathed, with the very

life breath of God, you are, according to what is contained

in God’s word, the Bible, inheritors, which changes everything.

When the Bible states that all creation moans waiting for the

coming of the Lord, the strain should be felt in our lives, and

within that strain is the momentous truth of family ties.

Rom 8:17
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs

with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him],

that we may be also glorified together.

The October challenge, find amazing parts of theology and
then each day bring one paragraph to you the reader about that.
What is it about God that leaves you either spellbound, or not?
Because one of the things that Jesus made plain in his ministry
was that you couldn’t sit on the fence with God; you either
believed in God and that He sent Jesus, or, you didn’t. There
is no halfway measure that will accomplish that belief point-
it’s either or. What makes that further interesting is that
so many want to hedge on it, they want to suggest shades of
knowing, partial knowledge, ask questions about what knowing
Him means, and therein is the rub, you either know Him, Jesus,
or you don’t, it actually is, just that simple. So Paul got
that into the hearts of his listeners by suggesting that they
not let the simple nature of that saving knowing trip them up.
1Pe 2:7 Unto you therefore which believe [he is] precious:
but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the
builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
1Pe 2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence,
[even to them] which stumble at the word, being disobedient:
whereunto also they were appointed.

“Not by might, not by power,” you are for certain
going to want to take this in today, because we
are going to tie together great distance in Bible
prophecy, and great presence of Judgment, as we
are exploring this week about the proper nature,
use and place of judging in a Christian’s life.

So we begin with pain, which must be a part of all
lives, it doesn’t matter how good that life is,
or how bad that life is, in every life, there is
pain; of some form or fashion. It might not be
physical pain, although those come and go, it
might be emotional pain, which can last a while
and then sometimes, can go away; hopefully, it
goes away. It can be spiritual pain, which is
a strange and deep longing in the soul…my
belief, is that John the disciple of Jesus
knew that kind of pain; as he reflected back
on the wonder of Jesus whom he loved- who he
watched die, who he watched rise again, who
ate with him after the resurrection, Jesus who
in chastizing Peter, from a perspective of love,
told John he’d outlast them all, and he did.
John who, at the age of 70 or 75 years old was
quarrying rock for the very enemies roads, who
destroyed his savior so cruelly upon their
cross; who beat Him, who crowned Him with
thorns; John’s Jesus, who he loved so deeply;
they couldn’t break John; so they had to respect
him, and thus he was in the grotto by himself
in prayer when Jesus appeared. NOW, read this
next section carefully as it ties thousands
of years of Bible prophecy together in just
a very few short verses. You may not have
seen this before, it is …well, judgment
by God, of time, and place:

The Prophet Zechariah

Zec 4:2 And said unto me, What seest thou?
And I said, I have looked,
and behold a candlestick all [of] gold,
with a bowl upon the top of it,
and his seven lamps thereon,
and seven pipes to the seven lamps,
which [are] upon the top thereof:

Zec 4:3 And two olive trees by it,
one upon the right [side] of the bowl,
and the other upon the left [side] thereof.

Zec 4:4 So I answered and spake to the
angel that talked with me, saying,
What [are] these, my lord?

Zec 4:5 Then the angel that talked
with me answered and said unto me,
Knowest thou not what these be?
And I said, No, my lord.

Zec 4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me,
saying, This [is] the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel,
saying, Not by might, nor by power,
but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

And now, John, on Patmos, “The Revelation of Christ” -

Rev 1:12 And I turned to see the voice
that spake with me. And being turned,
I saw seven golden candlesticks;

Rev 1:13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks
[one] like unto the Son of man,
clothed with a garment down to the foot,
and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

Judgment is a factor of the character of God,
the Son Jesus Christ, stands in the portal of history
from an ancient prophet, and then again, the portals
of history with the modern revelation, and in both,
stands in the midst, not apart, ,not distant, not
detached, but in the midst of what is going on.
Let’s pray for each other this day…

Most of the time we are happy to have life
go along on a pretty straight line, certain
things happen, we are used to those, and
certain things don’t happen, and we claim
that they don’t matter, which isn’t true
they do matter, we just don’t want to admit
it. The question is, do you really believe
that God, who made you, wants you to lose?
Wants you to hurt? Wants you to give in?
Wants you to flaunt endless justifications
about your inability to achieve at the end
of which is, another loss? Is your life
to be all about that?

God would not want that, surely not?
So we run smack into your right
to mess up what otherwise would
be perfect, and WHY- God wants you to be
obedient BEFORE BEING SACRIFICIAL – get it?
Being sacrificial doesn’t help you achieve
the God’s perfect will for your life; because in
being obedient you will find His will for
the life he has imparted to you. Now this
is pretty deep stuff but it is supported
it would seem by this and other Bible based
passages, let us know what you think?

1Sa 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD
[as great] delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold,
to obey [is] better than sacrifice, [and]
to hearken than the fat of rams.

So let’s get serious about the point of obedience?
Let’s make it today, and when we know that we
have failed to obey, let’s pray- it is under
this guidance that it seems to me Jesus was
referring when he commanded that we ought always
to pray!

Luk 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them [to this end],
that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

One of my favorite stories is about Joe Vitale
how he has come from obscurity to wealth,
success and popularity in a short span of
years. Dr. Joe has written over 40 best
selling self help books, and really, if you
stop and think about it, that’s a great
testimony to thinking and realistic
approaches to life that work.

One of his expressions is to dare
something worthy- and we as those
who follow Jesus have the greatest
chance to do that, ever, in history. In
fact this is the moment, really, today, this
is it- you have it- it is yours, and so the
question becomes, will you seize this
moment, or let it go? Jesus would tell
you in your heart of hearts, seize it.

Jhn 1:14 And the Word was made flesh,
and dwelt among us, (and we
beheld his glory, the glory as
of the only begotten of the Father,)
full of grace and truth.

Can we think together for a moment about what we’re doing?

Oh I don’t mean that there is anything at all wrong with what

we are doing, not at all; just that, if you would, join me in a

brief perspective trip about faith. Let’s start with that field

over there, you know the one, it’s been empty, basically,

unworked, lush green grasses and other plants grow there;

but it is, for all intents and purposes, an empty field. See

it clearly, it glistens in the summer sun, it radiates heat

back in the winter, know the place? It is a quiet, a lonely,

some would say, field. There are unknown millions of

fields, like it, all over the world. Do you wonder that even

perhaps Christ might’ve known such a field- where the

comparison is Luk 10:2 “Therefore said he unto them,

The harvest truly [is] great, but the labourers [are] few:

pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would

send forth labourers into his harvest. “

Next to this field, and we’re almost done with the

visualizing, as one is to realize, it takes time, but

please stay with this one, it will prove of some value

perhaps? Next to this field, is a stream, which every

year, overflows and floods out the field. It is obvious

what is needed to prevent the flooding, isn’t it?

A levy, or a wall. It is interesting that as you have

watched people come and go through the property,

they have brought many items with them, and

have left some, they left, for example, many

bricks, many branches, many things that they

thought, weren’t worth much, they were disposable,

they were considered trash. But not to you, as you

gaze at the field, you realize, what they have left

in their coming and going is material that could

really help the field be a better field, were it not

flooded each season. So what’s needed is a levy or

a wall. Now you have it, the picture, yes?

So the component here that is faith is not the seeing-

nor the noting, nor the study, nor the awareness of the

season; nor even the learning how to take various

kinds of things to make a wall. The component here

that is faith, is getting the leftover material and

making the wall. Faith as used in the Bible is nearly

always of the action type of word. Faith isn’t a mental

game, it’s a “doing out” or “working out” of what you

have become aware of as being needed. Let that

resonate for a while, you see, here in the U.S.

especially, we have faith ill defined, so poorly

understood as to be nearly lost in the meaning that

the Bible wants you to get, which is action, what

you are made aware of, you do something about.

Is this, therefore, a prayer of faith?

Mar 11:24 “Therefore I say unto you,

What things soever ye desire, when ye pray,

believe that ye receive [them],

and ye shall have [them]. “

So yesterday we dealt with para (2)- today-
sort of obviously, we’ve moved to number (3)
as promised…please take the next two minutes
to take that in…and read the scripture reference
regarding the same at the end of the points:

(1)You have the feeling that someone
perhaps that person in line there,
over there, is looking at you?
You turn, but don’t see anyone
staring at you, that you can notice
it’s an odd feeling isn’t it?

(2)You get to the party early and
as you are being introduced around
you have the oddest sense that you
have been here, doing this very
thing; even though you know, that’s
silly because this is the only time
you have ever been here?

(3)You have heard about a hundred
sermons this year, in fact, by now
you pretty much know what the preacher
is going to say, and you begin to
tune ‘em out; only just then suddenly
with crystal quickness, you feel,
rather than hear, what they are
saying, and you start to cry?

Mat 9:20 And, behold, a woman, which
was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years,
came behind [him], and touched the hem of his garment:
Mat 9:21 For she said within herself, If I may

but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
Mat 9:22 But Jesus turned him about, and

when he saw her, he said,
Daughter, be of good comfort;
thy faith hath made thee whole.
And the woman was made
whole from that hour.

To feel this story you have to climb
out of that box of life you’ve gotten
accustomesd to and realize, a woman
in this day was not to touch a man’s
garment; especially a woman with an
issue of blood, a diseased person, and
a female; violated every standing law
on the books (No Doubt). So that
Jesus sensed her touching him,
He felt her, more than really was
aware of her.

Notice that in Christ there is no
legal review of the situation? To
the Master, reviewing the laws about
what she had done, apparently,
wasn’t of any value? What seems
to have been important, was that
she discovered that He is indeed
every bit as powerful as it was told
about that He was. Shame we can’t
get that into our hearts today,
isn’t it? We all know people who are
lonely, who live in states of incomplete
love, who are stressed out, burnt out,
kicked in the teeth by life; sure, they
might not have issues of the blood,
but they have far deeper issues,
really; and what do you suppose
the Master would say to them?
If they could but touch the hem
of His garment?

Until tomorrow…let’s pray
for one another.

(4)You see the trees everyday, but
on this morning, the greens seem
somehow more brilliant? The blue
of the sky seems more intense,
the clouds are wispy and brilliant
white, and you smile, for no
particular reason, you smile.

(5)The food has never tasted better,
and as the meal progresses you
find yourself hauled into actually
feeling the food, rather than just
eating the meal?

What do all of these things have
to do with the Bible? Oh, we’re
gonna get there, next couple of days,
but for now let’s whet your whistle
with this one…(1) – read it
once more very quickly, and then
take in this from the New Testament:

Hbr 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers:
for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

So number one is the experience that science
hasn’t been able to define, science does not
like the term instinct, or, even, a sort of
third eye sense of presence; but we who
function in the spiritual know that such
is real. Paul who it seems to me was the
preacher of the sermons gathered as the book
of Hebrews noted this.

We will go on to para (2) and the others
as we progress, taking off on that tomorrow,
but now you know, you can share with your
friends, if they’ve had that experience of
feeling like someone was watching them,
according to Paul, it’s entirely possible
isn’t it?

There aren’t many times that scripture seems
crystal clear, usually we deem it possible
to get more than one meaning out of it.

Certainly that would seem to be the case here?

Mat 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed [it], and brake [it], and gave [it] to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.>br>
Mar 14:22 And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake [it], and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.

Luk 22:19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake [it], and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

1Cr 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake [it], and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

It is an almost perfectly quiet event,
it would seem to me, what we commonly
refer to as, the last supper. That
isn’t actually what was taking place
at all, Jesus was proving Himself the
Passover Lamb, the sacrifice. That
is certainly one reason for the event,
and certainly one reason why His
ministry may not have been three
years long. If you aren’t familiar
with the practice of the sacrificial
Lamb in Jewish life back then,
please ask me, I’ll get back with

Suppose you’re there- you’re watching him…
it’s early dawn…you’re up, the others aren’t;
it’s quiet- the hills that are dry and hot and
sweltering in a few hours, they’re dew misted
right now, but it’s already warming up.

The sun has just cleared the rise and
you see him. A lone figure, kneeling on
the ground, he looks tired, even from this
distance, you can tell his shoulders are
shaking, and you know, you just know
he’s weeping, and you know that like on
so many other days; you’d love to ask
him”why”, but you probably won’t.

Then he looks your way, and the look in his eyes
nails your soul, and you know, the man
who is the only man besides your father
that you have ever loved, loves you.

It shakes you down, and your heart which
had jumped a bit at his gaze, now settles
back, and your mind knows, you can’t do
a thing about how you feel- you know that
what he has been praying is what he told
you he would; he said it goes like this:
My Image“Our father…”

Now it’s several thousand years later,
you are peering over the edge of heaven
and what you’d like to tell the person
reading this is…

You see, the gaze of love never changes,
does it?
